SARC Unit for Bedfordshire Police
Work on the Emerald Centre in Ampthill was recently completed and handed over to Bedfordshire Police. The project involved the refit of a two storey building, creating a SARC unit for Central Bedfordshire. The building was stripped out completely including all finishes and internal walls, and was then fitted out throughout with a reception area, kitchens, family waiting rooms, forensic waiting rooms, toilets and showers, along with interview, monitoring rooms and staff office areas. New M&E, air handling, air conditioning, security and data services were installed throughout and the whole building was decorated and new floor finishes fitted.
Kathryn Holloway, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire had a very clear vision of what she wanted to achieve - a non-clinical environment, homely by nature, but still functional from a forensic point of view.
We think she would be the first to say that this was achieved.
